Losing Weight and Loving Life - Part 3 - SUCCESS!
ByWell! When I sat down and figured out what I wanted to accomplish by doing all my walking, there were a couple main objectives
- I set my goal weight to 205. Something that I figured was nearly impossible for me since I was 260 at the time, but I thought of it as a good challenge
- I refused to diet. There would be no change in the way I ate. If I wanted to fill my body with junk, that is what I would do. That is what I did
With #2, I knew it was going to be tough to obtain #1, but I what I really wanted to do was to prove everyone wrong that there was no way to lose weight if I continued to eat the way I did. Well, I turned out to be the one that is having the last laugh! I jumped on the scale this morning and the weight came back at 204.4 lbs! GOOOOAAAAAALLLLLL! I can hear that soccer announcer now!
Now, before I claim complete success, I do realize that if I actually watched what I ate and did sensible things, I could probably be abut 30 lbs lighter, but that was not the point. The point was to not deprive myself of anything that I truly enjoyed. If you do that, then you will be destined for failure because you will see the diet as the reason for your misery and simply give up. I like to tell people that the reason I walk 12 miles a day is that I eat 11 miles a day.
It really is simple folks. If you eat it, burn it off! Very simple.
Well this was just a short post to announce my success of reaching the goal I had set out about a year and a half ago. My new goal is 195. Whenever I get to it, I get to it. I plan to continue the exact same thing that has made me successful to this point. I realize there will be ups and downs (literally), but I also know that I am in complete control of the situation.
195 would be the same weight as I graduated high school 18 years ago, so that is once again a goal that seems out of reach, but I always try to do the impossible. If someone tells me it can’t be done, then I typically go out and do it. That’s just how I am. Just like the “You can’t lose weight and not diet” person. HA!

Wow! Way to go. That’s really a lot of pounds lost! Now you’re working towards 195 lbs. I see you’re motivated enough to reach that one.
Thanks. I truly am motivated. I think once the results are seen, it really motivates you to continue. Actually, even when the scale went in the opposite direction, I knew that I was in complete control of the situation. That is really important. Some people let that type of thing ruin their weight loss attempts. I just kept doing the same thing, knowing that the results would happen. It’s even better to have people stop me during my walk and comment on how much I have lost or that I have inspired them to start exercising.
That’s fantastic! Congratulations!
I’m with you on not wanting to change the foods I eat. I started walking/running last August and am down 10 inches. I can’t speak to the weight thing, as I choose not to weigh myself. My tape measure and my clothes show me my results.
Keep it up!
Congrats on the success. Those are great results! I feel so much better now than before, which is really the greatest thing.
Why do I have 2 heads?
Stupid me! Wordpress has built in support for them. It was duplicating everything. Disabled the plugin and all seems fine. DOH!
