Iraq wants us out? Sounds good to me!

By OTown Guy

Does anybody besides me find a problem with the Iraqi government determining how long the US will stay in the country? If we want to leave, we will leave. If we want to stay, we will stay. The Iraqi people, however, seem to think that they can stand on their own now and handle protecting the country we liberated from a terrible dictator.

Well, I say let’s let them give it a try. We certainly do not need to deal with this place anymore. For too long, this country has taken everything from the US and has given nothing in return.

I say let’s pack our crap up and leave now and whatever happens to Iraq happens and it is not for us to worry about anymore. We’ve done our best, we accomplished the mission many years ago. There is nothing left to do except for spend money needlessly on a country that does not even want us there. They want our money, but not our troops. Sorry Iraq, it does not work that way. Our troops and our money that has been devoted to your country needs to return to the US and return our own country to greatness that it enjoyed well before we got involved with you freeloaders.

To date, it is reported that we have spent $573 billion in Iraq! Holy wasted money, Batman! That is ridiculous! How many companies could we have bailed out with that money? With that kind of money, we could give GM, Ford and Chrysler EACH $100 billion and still have enough to sock some away to support the future of Medicaid and Social Security. Actually, if you want a number you can better get your hands around, this comes out to $341.1 million every day being sent to a country that is not giving anything back to us.

I say let Iraq be Iraq. If they succeed and in 40 years we are buying all our electronics and cars from them, then I guess they should be very grateful. If they end up being attacked and taken over by an outside force that sends them all to internment camps and decapitates them as something fun to do, so be it. Not my problem and it should not be my neighbors problem nor it should be my fellow US citizens problem. We’ve shown our military might and now it is time to head back home and focus on the problems of the US citizen.

Actually, it is not just Iraq. We should not be sending any money to any other country until we can support ourselves, but that is a story for another day.

This post is most likely out of date by the time you read it, so check out the exact figure we have spent in Iraq over at the National Priorities Project.
